Dr. Pepper and Fundraising

The local grocery store started selling canned Dr. Peppers!!! At least that's how I felt until I spilled one on my laptop keyboard...But God is good, and Dell is prepared for accident prone people like myself. They replaced it all, free of charge. :) Wong (the supermarket) stopped selling my favorite drink. I guess that's a good thing.

I had little time to grieve over my laptop when there was work to be done for possibly the geatest event to date in the history of LMCS. As September 18th rolled around, we prayed; we prepared; we called; we gave all for Operation: Peru in Your Hands. The entire student body, administration, staff, personnel, and even some parents embarked on the adventure of one complete day of serving God through serving those less fortunate. We visited shut-ins, entertained little kids, spent time with teenage moms and orphans, painted houses, cleaned up the local fire station and city hall just to name a few. Those outward acts of service gave us the opportunity to share with everyone "The Story of Hope." What is the "Story of Hope"? It is the story of the ultimate sacrifice weaved through the pages of God's Word. From the little three year olds to the eldest member of LMCS, we were all testifying of a love that puts words into action. We offered to them the hope that God imparts to all. As the senior homeroom teacher, I joined my nine senior boys as we shared our day with elderly people in a rest home and with burn victims in a rehabilitation center. Please pray that the seeds planted will grow in the hearts of all those reached, and be sure to check out the photos on my page.

Peanut butter, bagels, fruity pebbles, poptarts--just a few of the perks I get when someone comes to visit. :) My mom and her husband Herb journeyed down to Lima for a few days before venturing out to Machu Picchu. We greatly enjoyed their time with us here as we savored every bite of Moma's homemade vegetable soup and some good ol' fried cornbread. Alvaro learned some southern dialect while I got re-acquainted with my southern roots; and Moma and Herb endured bits and pieces of "culture shock." They were good sports. :)

Tomorrow begins the final quarter of this school year; and in two weeks, we will have yet another grand event. This one will be to raise funds to begin construction on the new property. Please pray that we can sell tickets, that the auction will go well, and that the money will come in. We have the licenses but are lacking the funds to build. Don't miss out! Be sure to pray so that you can enjoy the blessing of seeing how God is going to provide!
